If, like us, you’ve been looking forward to D-pad Studio’s Owl Boy since it was shown off in 2008, then you might have been disheartened to hear that the game hit a rather bumpy patch at the end of last year when their programmer left the project. Everything was thrown into disarray and the prospects for the game were looking a little bleak.
However, don’t fear just yet because the project is far from dead. The game gained a new programmer at the start of the year who has already gotten to grips with things.
Owl Boy has even made it into the nominations at the Independent Game Festival in the category of `Excellence in Visual Art`. Let’s hope this gives the game the final boost it needs because, quite honestly, it’s one of more intriguing and interesting titles being worked on at the moment and it would be a shame for it to disappear.
It certainly looks like the team have no intention of letting that happen any time soon because the game is being polished for showing off at GDC in San Francisco next week. Fingers crossed for lots of news and impressions around then.
