An interesting little rumour to come from videogame website Joystiq (plus a few others) is that the PSP Mini’s range, downloadable titles for the PSP, may soon be playable on the PlayStation 3.
Mini’s were launched a month or two ago alongside the PSP Go, sort of like bitsized gaming for the potable machine in the same way that you get titles on your iPhone (after all, who isn’t chasing the iPhone market these days?!).
However, Sony hasn’t been doing the best job of plugging them and putting them into the forefront of peoples mind, and it’s debatable how long the PSP Go will stay viable as a format in the first place. Enter the rumour that they’re looking to expand the Mini’s audience by allowing your PS3 to upscale them and play them on your TV.
Joystiq also say their sources have told them this will be coming very soon – possibly by the end of this year (which doesn’t leave them much time).
It’s an interesting idea and while not entirely along the same lines as Xbox Live Indies because it isn’t viable for casual non-developers, you can see where Sony would be coming from on the bite sized gaming front. Plus it would give the Mini’s much more exposure, something which they sorely need.
It’ll be interesting to see if this one is true and, if it isn’t, someone at Sony should be giving it serious consideration anyway!

Interesting. This might give the Mini’s some much need exposure.
The Halfbrick Mini’s games aren’t half bad and are worth a try. They certainly deserve to have more people play them.
