First footage on new Rocket Knight for PSN / XBLA

As part of their continuing exclusive preview of the new update to the Rocket Knight games, first revealed only a few days ago, 1Up.com have posted the first video of the game in action.

It certainly looks very bright and colourful like the previous games, including the zig-zag rocket mechanic and the side scrolling shooter levels, but the main misgiving from fans at the moment seems to be about the settings themselves – people with fond memories of the first game will remember the industrial, steampunk settings which this one seems to be be missing.

Then again it is early days for the title which isn’t due until 2010, and the screens and video so far as certainly only a small section of the game. The video reveals that the title is only tentatively `Rocket Knight` but whatever it ends up being called, it’ll be one to watch out for in the coming months.
