Chatting to Eurogamer, Hampus Soderstrom of Nabi Studios (creators of violent PC title Toribash), has been bemoaning that there aren’t really many fighters on Nintendo’s WiiWare service. But it looks like the devs are looking to change that quite soon. Originally they wanted to work on the XBLA but settled on Nintendo’s service in the end.
“I always just liked the platform better and thought it would suit Toribash much better. And also Wii didn’t have any [fighting games]. OK it has Smash Bros. [Brawl], but fighting titles are really lacking on Wii,”.
“Check in the WiiWare Store and there’s only one game listed in the fighting genre category, and that’s a snowboarding game that has a sort of fighting element.”
The quote seems to indicate the game could be a version of Toribash. Right now details are vague, but you can bet there’ll be lots of blood and it sounds like Nintendo are pretty down with that. Which isn’t a surprise if you’ve ever played Madworld.
More info whenever it’s revealed.
