Announced yesterday at their GDC09 keynote, Nintendo unveiled the new firmware update which finally offers a solution to those who are tired of running out of space for all their WiiWare and Virtual Console games.
The update, which was made available as soon as it was announced by Satoru Iwata, now allows games to run straight from a SD card inserted into the Wii and increases the supported capacity up to 32Gb. That should be plenty of space for most people to avoid having to delete and re-download.
Iwata also announced the Virtual Console Arcade (that name has a nice ring to it!). This expansion of the Virtual Console means it will now include classic Arcade titles. Just like the firmware update, this was made available straight away and there are already several games to choose from including:
- Space Harrier
- Mappy
- Return of Ishtar
- Solvalou
- Gaplus
- The Tower of Druaga
- Star Force
- Emeraldia
Doubtless there’ll be more titles coming soon.
