Gawd bless those fella’s over at BritishGaming.co.uk. They say what we’re all thinking. Okay, they’re saying what we’ve all said before but they do it so well (which is why we’ve linked to them on the right hand side of this very site for some time now).
They recently asked publishers what was up with the massive delays in bringing their games to the European PSN. After all, the M.I.A. list is looking pretty dire so far, with the backlog responsible for the delay of some pretty big and highly anticipated titles including:
Cash Guns Chaos
Cuboid
Lumines Supernova
Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode One and Two
PowerUp Forever
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars
The comment from at least two of them were pretty damning:
“Sony’s process for getting titles on PSN varies in North America, Europe, Japan and the rest of Asia”, said Joel De Young, COO of Hothead Games, the Canadian Developers behind Penny Arcade’s episodic RPG. Capcom, when quizzed about Street Fighter’s appearance on the PSN, told us “that’s a question better directed at the console manufacturers themselves”.
So they did. And this is what Sony Computer Entertainment Europe had to say:
“…this has been an ongoing issue and we’re doing our best to resolve it.”
Short and sweet. We can but hope that Sony are working hard to resolve the differences between the stores in order to make the PSN more of a contender in 2009.
