Euro WiiWare Update: An Explosion Of Games!

Posted by Console Arcade

Today’s update to the Euro WiiWare service doesn’t bring you just one game. Nor two. Three? Nope, today brings you four new titles on which to splash your virtual cash.

Art Style: CUBELLO - 600 Nintendo Points

Art Style: CUBELLO mixes the strategy and feel of a traditional puzzle game with the precision and reflexes required in a shooter. As each stage begins, various colored cubes form into one large object called a Cubello, which floats and rotates as you play. Launch additional cubes from your magazine and try to connect four or more of the same color, removing them from the Cubello and eventually leaving only its core. Take on the challenge of either Stage or Endless mode and watch what happens when Bonus Time is activated. The straightforward controls and goal ensure that anyone can play, while offering enough depth that even advanced players will find themselves quickly addicted to the unique world of Art Style: CUBELLO

Strong Bad Episode 3: Baddest of the Bands - 1000 Nintendo Points

Rock and roll! Hurting for cash, Strong Bad sets out to dominate the “Battle Royale of the Bands.” Can he rule the stage and win the big prize? Or will he be drowned out by the competition? Find out in this high-voltage episode.

Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam - 1000 Nintendo Points

Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam is a frenetically active cooking game in which you must serve food to your customers as quickly as possible. This could be a simple task, but the customers aren’t very patient, and you’ll find a multitude of annoying insects that make the noble mission of satisfying your small gourmets’ stomachs much more difficult. In the game’s Career Mode, your goal is to become the best chef in the city. To do so, you have to prove your worth by cooking in four fantastic restaurants: the Hot Dog, Hamburger, Pizza and Mexican Restaurant.

Enjoy playing Yummy Yummy with your family, serving delicious food to the most surprising characters: vampires, ninjas, extraterrestrials and mafia thugs. Put on your chef’s hat, sharpen your knives and turn up the heat

CueSports - Snooker vs. Billiards - 800 Nintendo Points

Friends and billiard fans from across the world can get together for online matches! Will you be the one to dazzle the competition with your skills? Take on all challengers from around the world from the comfort of your own living room!

SSF2 Turbo HD Remix Officially Priced & Dated

Posted by Console Arcade

There’s been lots of Super Street Fighter 2 talk lately, as Capcom ramp up to the release of their long awaited HD-remake.

Now they’ve confirmed that you’ll be able to download the game via XBLA on 26th November for 1200 Microsoft Points. PlayStation Store users can get it a day before on 25th November for $14.99.

XBLA  releases tend to be universal but the PlayStation Store… well, not so much. There’s no indication of whether or not the game will get a launch outside of US territories on that day but this comment on the CAPCOM UNITY POST that brought the pricing news doesn’t sound too reassuring:-

You will see standard international price adjustments for overseas PSN stores when it eventually arrives.

Fingers crossed.

Today on XBLA: A Kingdom For Keflings

Posted by Console Arcade

Not by coincidence, today’s update to the XBLA features Ninja Bee’s A Kingdom For Keflings, the first in a long line of games to offer support for the NXE Avatars - as the press release below is keen to stress.

Place your customized Xbox Live Avatar in the medieval world of A Kingdom for Keflings, a new city-building game from NinjaBee. Play as your Avatar or choose from other friendly giants as you teach the local Keflings how to collect and convert resources to customize your kingdom. Educate and train your Keflings to become workers, scholars, even Mayor of the city! Build your kingdom alone or cooperatively with up to three of your friends online. The more you build, the more buildings you unlock and the more Keflings you attract, so start building today!

* City-building fun: In an original approach to a well-loved genre, A Kingdom for Keflings features a large avatar interacting with the Keflings, resources, and buildings of a small village. Resources and Keflings can be converted from one type to another. Buildings can be built and upgraded with a combination of specific resources and specific Kefling types. Buildings in turn make new resources and Kefling types available, unlock new building types, attract more Keflings, and achieve other game goals.

* Xbox Live Avatar: It’s the first game of its kind on Xbox Live Arcade to support full in-game playable avatars. Move your avatar around, pick up the Keflings and pop them into buildings.

* Customization: Make your city your own by customizing the look and colour of buildings, and decorating the village with additional elements such as trees and walkways.

* The time of the season: Stylized animated graphics change with the seasons, and a dynamic music soundtrack (which adapts to the season and the state of the village) gives the game an unusually strong sense of life and activity.

* Co-op play: Build cities online cooperatively with your friends.

Yours for 800 Microsoft Points.

NXE And Community Games Launches Today!

Posted by Console Arcade

After lots of hyping and selected entry in to preview programs, today the New Xbox Experience is released for all. Once the update goes live at some point today, you can look forward to a redesigned interface, which should make finding all those Live Arcade titles much easier, as well as granting the ability to delete those zero Gamerpoints stains from your gaming history from any leftover Arcade trials.

There’ll also be the official launch of Community Games section, where you’ll be able to download games developed using XNA. It’s expected that there’ll be 30 titles available straight away, ranging from puzzlers, platformers and shooters, so there should be something for everyone. Just like the XBLA there’ll also be trails available for each game so that you can decide whether to stump up their 200-400 Points price tag.

However there are some limitations that you should brace yourself for:-

  • Community Games won’t show up in the new Quick Launch feature and will require you to be signed in to Xbox Live to play them (unlike XBLA games which can be played offline if tied to the Console ID).
  • The games can have Online play but that’s as far as their functionality will extend. That means no online leaderboards.
  • The games will not have Avatar support as to do this requires them to go through the official ratings process.

Street Fighter HD Remix Trailer… Part Two

Posted by Console Arcade

Following on from PART ONE last week, the buzz on the Capcom Unity forum is that part 3 will arrive next week, just in in time for the games release on Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Nothing is confirmed as yet, but this would tie in with Capcom’s teasing that the game will be coming sometime this month.

Update: Those with the preview of the New Xbox Experience have already been privy to the date. An advert on the new dashboard says the game is coming on 26th November, with no doubt the PSN version coming a day later on 27th.

US WiiWare Update: More Strongbad & Toss Bags!

Posted by Console Arcade

This weeks update for the US WiiWare service is (brace yourself for the obvious joke…) one for real tossers!

Target Toss Pro: Bags - 700 Nintendo Points

Target Toss Pro: Bags is a new video game based on beanbag toss-the nation’s hottest backyard and tailgate sensation. Bags is a deceptively simple, yet extremely competitive game where players try to toss beanbags into a hole in a slightly raised platform or “box” for points, similar to horseshoes. Whether at a tailgate party or a summer barbecue, the game has become a social focal point, and the unmistakable thud of bags hitting the box is now a universal party sound track.

and there’s also more Strongbad too

Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3 - 1000 Nintendo Points

Move over, generically buff action heroes! Strong Bad is here to show you how it’s done in his handcrafted cinematic masterpiece, Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective. You play Dangeresque, a dirty cop in pursuit of a little action and several big sacks of cash. Can our hero stay alive long enough to defeat his archnemesis, save the world, and get the girl?

Watchmen: The End is Nigh

Posted by Console Arcade

Announced earlier this year,  the image you see above is actually an in-game model of Rorschach from the upcoming Watchmen game which gets and exclusive reveal in Decembers issue of EGM. The issue will feature the exclusive details and screens of the game which still has many fans raging over how un-necessary a prequel (even in game form) would actually be.

Hopefully there’ll be more news once the magazine hits the stands.
