Halloween Price Drop: Siren Blood Curse

Posted by Console Arcade

Just in time for the scary holiday, and for one week only, Siren: Blood Curse on the US PSN has been slashed in price to $29.99 for the full download, or $10.99 for each chapter.

If you can, grab it at this price because we think it’s rather good. Sadly the prmotion doesn’t extend outside of the US, presumably because Sony doesn’t think that anywhere else celebrates the mainly American holiday.

US WiiWare Update: Rotohex & Strongbad Episode 3

Posted by Console Arcade

With today’s update to the US WiiWare service you can now get

Art Style: Rotohex - 600 Nintendo Points

Use colored triangular panels to create a vibrant mosaic of stained glass in Art Style: ROTOHEX. As triangles fall from the top of the screen, rotate them to group six panels of the same color and create a matching hexagon, or HEX. Once the HEX has been formed, it will disappear, allowing the existing panels to shift and more panels to fill the playing field.

A clear-cut goal and two different styles of intuitive controls allow you to focus solely on the game play-which is vital, as the playing field will be full of panels before you know it. With multiple modes (unlock more as you progress further in SOLO mode), special item panels at your disposal, and the ability to play cooperatively or competitively with a friend, there will always be another HEX to create.

Strong Bad Episode 3: Baddest of the Bands - 1000 Nintendo Points

Rock and roll! Hurting for cash, Strong Bad sets out to dominate the “Battle Royale of the Bands.” Can he rule the stage and win the big prize? Or will he be drowned out by the competition? Find out in this high-voltage episode.

Burn Zombie Burn! For PSN

Posted by Console Arcade

You know what we were saying the other day about video games and zombies? Well here’s another one, this time Burn Zombie Burn! by Pinnacle Software for the PSN.

You play Bruce – an average every-day Joe who was looking forward to some ‘quality time’ with his girlfriend Daisy. In true B-movie style their Saturday night is ruined by an invasion of zombies. Set across six classic American horror movie inspired levels, Burn Zombie Burn is a third-person shoot-em-up in the classic coin-op tradition featuring next-gen game play mechanics, and possessing that ‘one-more-go’ addictiveness which define all of the great shooters.

The aim of the game couldn’t be simpler; shoot, burn and blow up as many brain munching zombies as possible using a variety of classic zombie killing weapons before they overwhelm you. Use fire to build up your multiplier and then destroy zombies en masse with explosives to increase that oh-so-important leaderboard high score. But beware! A burning zombie is a faster zombie – burn too many and they will burn you!

Burn Zombie Burn is frantic, arcade gaming at its best, delivering humour and bloody zombie violence in copious amounts!

• Six American horror movie inspired playable levels – The Woods, Graveyard, Suburbia, Drive-In, Military Base and Secret Lab

• Three single-player modes – Freeplay, Timed and Defence

• Two player Co-op and Versus modes (Freeplay and Timed only)

• Ten bloody and gag-filled custom Challenges across all levels including ‘My Exploding Zombie Head!’ (kick it around the map and shoot to detonate), ‘Zombies Ate My Teddy!’ (zombies are after your teddy. Stop them!) and ‘Lawn of the Dead!’ (a lawnmower and a lot of zombies. You work it out!)

• Eight zombie types to slaughter, each with their own behaviourial patterns, strengths and weaknesses – Normal, Exploder, Crazy, Dancers, Rushers, Riot, Noxious and Super Zombie!

• Fantastic range of primary weapons to dish out some zombie hurt with including baseball bat, chainsaw, lawnmower and the Brain Gun!

• Dish out additional zombie pain with pickup enhanced Timed, Proximity and Remote Explosives for that nice, at a safe distance zombie evisceration!

• Set fire to zombies to net a big score multiplier. The more zombies on fire, the bigger your multiplier and the quicker your score rises

• Level Event on every level activated by keeping on killing with the same weapon to build up a combo ticker. Max out three and the Event is activated, a different one for each level, including a UFO, a God Ray and Laser Beams, all of which will help you out

• Three in-game characters; Bruce - across between Bruce Campbell and Elvis, Bruno – Bruce’s quieter brother, and Daisy – Bruce’s girl

Burn Zombie Burn! is expected for the first quarter of 2009.

EU WiiWare Update: Tetris Party And Home Sweet Home

Posted by Console Arcade

Today on the European WiiWare Service you’ll find:

Home Sweet Home - 1000 Nintendo Points

No, not the old NES game. Instead it’s an interior designing simulator.

Home Sweet Home is a home design game in which you will listen and learn about your clients’ tastes, create fabulous designs for your clients, and then direct your build team to assemble it all in front of your eyes.

Picture the scene. You move into a new house and you have visions of how you want every room, except for one. Sure, there are some items you know you need in that room but, other than that, it’s a blank canvas. Who do you call? How about the ‘Home Sweet Home’ team?

Tetris Party - 1,200 Nintendo Points

Tetris Party is a deceptively simple, totally addictive puzzle game that is sure to keep you and all of your friends and family entertained for hours on end. The WiiWare game features 10 never-before-seen single-player and multiplayer variations of Tetris, including Field Climber, Stage Racer, Shadow and Wii Balance Board-enabled modes (Wii Balance Board™ accessory sold with Wii Fit). Several of the modes give users the chance to take advantage of the unique point-and-shoot capabilities of the Wii Remote controller. The party doesn’t stop there, though. Take the Tetris fun online via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, where you can play multiplayer Tetris against up to five friends at a time. You can also see how your Tetris Party skills stack up against the rest of the world using the global ranking system.

Zombies!!! Coming To XBLA And PSN

Posted by Console Arcade

Just where would gaming be without the good old zombie aye? We’re not even going to try and answer that one. Well now the popular board game has been confirmed as coming to the PSN and XBLA.

Here’s the full press release.

The immensely popular Zombies!!! Board Game is set to hit the video game world in 2009. Twilight Creations, Inc., the publishers of the game, has reached an agreement with Big Rooster, LLC, an entertainment software company, to develop the Zombies!!! board game into a video game property.

Initially the game will be developed for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the Steam online game distribution website according to Timothy Gerritsen, Executive Director of Big Rooster. Later releases may include the Nintendo DS and Wii systems.

“Zombies!!! is a perfect game for the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation 3 Network,” said Mr. Gerritsen. “We were surprised that no one had seen the huge potential in the Zombies!!! property.”

Originally released in 2001, Zombies!!! has been a consistent seller and is considered one of the core products in the hobby-game industry. The base set has sold over 125,000 copies worldwide. It has also spawned many expansions and spin-offs. Combined, Zombies!!! products have sold in excess of 300,000 units.

In Zombies!!! players race around the board trying to find a way to escape the ever-growing zombie horde. The game is simple to play and extremely addictive according to its fans. The tile based board and the many expansions work to keep the game fresh and new each time you play it.

David Hasselhoff is in PAIN

Posted by Console Arcade

Find more videos like this on David Hasselhoff Social Network

When PAIN gets it’s new Hollywood update on November 6th it looks like there’ll be a fitting guest star - no less than David Hasselhoff the star of Baywatch, Knightrider and beloved pop star (well, in Germany at least).

Here’s what he had to say on his inclusion:

“What am I doing in PAIN you ask? It’s the Movie Studio! What’s a movie studio without The Hoff? You can now put The Hoff into a launcher and fling me into harm’s way – exploding crates, cars, people – everything is fair game. And best of all, you’ll never even put a scratch on this mug of mine!

“When I was first approached about PAIN, I really didn’t know what to think. I mean, it’s great to think that someone would want to put me in a game, but THIS game is all about flinging people into walls, smashing them into cars, and spanking monkeys. While I wholeheartedly approve of the monkey spanking, I wasn’t too sure about the rest of the game. When I finally got my hands on PAIN though, everything changed, and I “got it”. If anybody can understand silly fun, it’s me.”

And there’s possibly more celeb characters on the way!

Xbox Live Primetime Delayed

Posted by Console Arcade

Despite the date of 19th November being announced for the New Xbox Experience update, today Microsoft have announced that the Primetime feature which forms part of it, has been delayed.

A way of playing interactive games for real world prizes against other people on Xbox Live, the feature was hotly anticipated for allowing players to take part in titles like 1 Vs 100. It’s now expected to arrive some time in the spring, although Microsoft have said that the new Xbox dashboard system means they won’t be releasing updates in the usual fashion any more. Instead of spring or autumn updates the system will be updated as and when, so you can realistically expect it to be added whenever it’s done.
